Nabisco Pumpkin Spice Oreo

Ah, Oreos, the classic American sandwich cookie and a beloved accidentally vegan treat! In recent years they've shook things up from the original chocolate cookie with white cream filling and have come out with an array of interesting flavors, including jumping on the pumpkin spice bandwagon. Does pumpkin spice suit oreos well? Keep on reading to find out!
Buying. At some point I had heard that these were a Target exclusive flavor, but that isn't so as I have spotted them at Winco. This package is a bit smaller than 'normal' oreos, though they cost the same, but this is typical for the special oreo flavors. I bought this package at Target for $3. This is a limited seasonal flavor, so grab it while you can!

Packaging. It's been a while since I've bought oreos, so I don't know if it's just because it's a special flavor, or if they've moved away from the resealable packaging, but I'm pretty disappointed that it's not resealable. Inside the plastic outer wrap they cookies are neatly sorted in a plastic tray. The whole package easily fits in a gallon size plastic baggie for storage. Also, oreos do freeze well.

Nutrition. They're all sugar and fat! Saturated fat even! SO. MUCH. SUGAR. High fructose corn syrup! Holy moley. There is no redeeming quality to these at all, health-wise.

Tasting. As mentioned above, it's been some time since I've last had oreos, for a while I was eating so many of them and then I just got sick of them and never bought them again for nearly a year until now. Soooo, have oreos always been this sweet? A serving size is "only" two cookies, but that's really I could handle.

The pumpkin spice aroma was pleasant and noticeable upon opening the bag. For some reason the cookies in my package looked a little over baked, but still tasted fine. I rather liked the pumpkin and spice flavors in the cream filling, though I know other people have complained they taste kinda fake. I just wish they weren't so sickeningly sweet. Enjoying them with a glass of almond milk only helped cut the sweetness so much.

Bottom Line. If you like pumpkin spice and you like oreos, by all means give these a try, but chances are you didn't need me to tell you that. If eating pumpkin spice flavored sugar paste doesn't sound appealing, give 'em a miss.

Also, they may or may not contain palm oil (it's an "and/or" ingredient), and I can be pretty sure Nabisco doesn't opt for a sustainable source, so that's another reason to possibly avoid these. Nabisco certainly isn't transparent with any real information about their product, apparently discussing the color of the chocolate cookie is far more important to them.
